Our Goal is to bring about the joy of making and creating by exploring various topics while developing their technical skill. We aim to provide the children space to discover their own song and confidence to give it voice into the world.
Children will learn and apply the principles of design to personal and commercial style applications. Produced works will include photographic compositions, graphic design, illustration, concept artworks and environmental designs.
Students will learn about the Elements of art and the principles of design. The principles of design describe the ways that artists use the elements of art in a work of art. Balance, Emphasis, Movement, Pattern, Repetition, Rhythm, Variety & Unity
During the first half of the term we will focus on skill development while learning how to use the designer tools to create interesting composites and artworks. These small projects should make students familiar with the interface and online resources for use with compositing. In the later part of the term students will embark on their own project. Tools for online concept development will be used to help students plan and execute a series of polished final works.
Students work within Affinity Photo & Affinity Designer and will require access to both programs for this course. Jr Studio laptops have both available should if you wish to work on our studio machines.
We are very excited about the release of Affinity Designer. This software works on both Mac and PC as well as iPads. The software functions in the same and has the full capabilities of Adobe Illustrator.
For training in this class you will need to purchase this software for around $27.99 on the iPad. NOTE: this is a one time fee. Unlike other software there is no ‘membership’ required and updates are free.
