SAT – Adult Beginners Photography Class 4:00pm (Nov 2020)
Our beginner digital photography course is designed to help you make full use of your digital cameras. You will learn camera settings, shutter speeds, apertures, lighting and composition. Photography tricks will also be covered in this course in order to let you shine on social media. During the course, you’ll complete a series of photo projects that let you utilize your newly developed skills and knowledge.
Your instructor will guide you in this 6 week course, reviewing your photos and helping you improve. One thing for sure, this course will change the way you see the world.

MON – JR Podcaster 12 – 17 yrs (Fall 2020)
Podcast is no doubt a new yet powerful platform to tell your story. There were 48 million weekly podcast listeners in 2018, according to Statista data. This audience is expected to grow to 115 million by 2021. Now is the time to start your own podcast.
Our JR Podcaster course is designed for storytellers who would like to work behind the camera, yet maintain creative control over their stories.
Students will be guided through the fundamental aspects of Fiction Storytelling Podcast, including podcast scriptwriting, voice coaching, sound recording, music and sound effects selections as well as audio editing. We encourage our young podcasters to create a particular story, viewpoint, message or experience. Participants are expected to complete and publish their original piece of audio drama by the end of the course. Join us and let your voice be heard!
WED – JR Documentarian 12 – 17 yrs (Fall 2020)
Documentaries involve media devices, content, form, and production strategies in order to address the creative, ethical, and conceptual problems and choices in daily life. Due to the complex nature of documentary practice we will only accept students at least 12 years of age.
Student will be guided through the fundamental aspects of documentary filmmaking, including researching skills and camera angles, footage selection as well as editing. Students are encouraged to creates a particular story, viewpoint, message or experience.

In this term students will focus on an introduction to digital photography. Students can expect to learn how to make a correct exposure, shoot in challenging lighting situations, make strong compositions. This course will also include some photography hacks. Student will get plenty of hands-on experience and practical photography knowledge.
As Fall approaches, this term will explore Natural Photography. We have stayed at home for too long, let’s go down to the ravine and take some stunning photos of golden maple trees. We will also bring back our iconic Halloween Grow in the Dark photoshoot and Christmas Lights photography.

SUN – JR Filmmaker 8 – 12 yrs (Fall 2020)
In this term students will learn the fundamental aspects of filmmaking, including script writing, basic camera angles and acting. We will also dive into GENRE studies. Student will work in a group setting and focus on one particular genre for their final script. For the first time ever in JR Art Lab film education history, our filmmakers will make their live action movies around an object – a toy. It can be a doll, a stuffed animal, an action figure or even a board game. Think about movies like Annabelle (but less scary), Jumanji (with less fantasy)…
Students will get plenty of hands-on experience and practical film knowledge, through working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Last but not least, students will learn how to work in a film crew.
All final productions will be uploaded to the student’s YouTube Channel as well as JR Art Lab YouTube channel.
