WED – JR Designer 13 – 17 yrs (Winter 2019)
In this 9 week term students will design and author their own children book or graphic novel.
During the first few weeks we will focus on narrative and character development while learning how to use the design tools to create layouts and artworks. These small projects should make students familiar with the interface and online resources. We will learn how to combine pixel and vector graphics as only Affinity Designer knows how!
Options for professional printing and binding will be presented to parents after completion of the projects should you wish to make a timeless memory for your home library. You may even wish to send your book out to publishers and see if you get any bites.
Students work between Affinity Designer and Autodesk Sketchbook.

This term we will focus on establishing art fundamentals while allowing students to build their skills and confidence with the digital painting tools and workflow. Projects will take 1 – 2 weeks each. After the first 5 weeks students will be encouraged to embark on their own concept artwork. Students will be guided through the research and concept development phases for their final work.
All final works will be exhibited in our end of semester gallery event for parents and community.
NB: There will be an additional cost for the product printing. A full list of items will be made available for parents with associated printing costs.

SUN – 3D Artist 10+ yrs (Winter 2019)
This term we will focus on 3D Sculpting Characters.
Due to the complex nature of 3D software we will only accept students at least 10 yrs of age.
Students will be guided through the program interface learning simple Geometry sufficient for sculpting.
They will learn about texture painting and lighting within the 3D as well as rendering and output. Starting out with simple sculpts. We will build up to rendering more complicated humanoids. Students will render and output a simple animation for their own YouTube animation channel. Parents will be required to authorize children’s use of social media (youtube) to share their work online.
