Theme of this term: Biographical Documentary.

A biographical documentary is a genre of filmmaking that delves into the life and experiences of a specific individual, providing an in-depth exploration of their journey, achievements, and impact. This genre aims to offer an engaging and informative portrayal of the subject’s life, allowing viewers to gain insights into their character and contributions. Throughout this genre, students will immerse themselves in a variety of biographical subjects, including individuals from diverse fields such as arts, culture, history, and more. Guided by mentors, students will undertake thorough research to develop a nuanced understanding of their chosen biographical figures, enabling them to create compelling and well-researched documentary works.

In this online course, students will receive comprehensive instruction on the art of producing biographical documentaries, covering key areas such as research methodologies, narrative structuring specific to biographies, cinematography techniques, audio recording and manipulation, video editing, and more. Students will have the opportunity to craft their documentary scripts tailored to the biographical style, bringing to life the stories of their chosen subjects through short film projects.

The creation of a biographical documentary demands critical thinking as students select, analyze, and present information about their chosen individuals, thereby enhancing their analytical and communication skills in the context of biographical storytelling.
