The gardens in the neighbourhood are full of beautiful tulips so get outside and take some photos. Students may wish to work with their own photo reference or work with ours. Tulips are simple shapes and a great way to learn about painting forms with light. They will also be a beautiful reminder of your garden for your walls or digital device wallpapers..
Price does not include printing. If you would like to have your artwork printed on a canvas the prices are as follows:

Working with www.sketchbook.com and its great variety of watercolor brushes we will embark on an intergalactic journey of color and lights. Students will learn how to render forms like clouds and discover using different brushes to create a variety of marks in art making.

This is a great into to digital painting. It should be easy to follow and allow for a lot of exploring. Students will use www.sketchbook.com for drawing & painting which is free to download for PC, Mac, iPad and Android tablets.
If you happen to have more advanced software like Affinity Photo you are also welcome to use that during the workshop.
In Botanical Arts will study and create a variety of drawings from the natural world. Drawing inspiration from the botanists who traveled the world documenting new species of flora and fauna. These prints will make a lovely wall collection to decorate your living space or study desk. Students will also be shown some of the wondrous botanical sites and treasures available online for reference and download. This class is open to Adults and Children 8+ years.

Each day we will have a short introduction to the works of theses famous artists and then produce a work that is inspired by their own unique style and visions.

Abstract art is a great way to play and express our thoughts. Sometimes it can provide and insight into our emotions and feelings that we may not have awareness of. You may find this class quite therapeutic and decide to make a lot more abstract artworks in your spare time. This class is open to Adults and Children 8+ years.

In this daily workshop we will learn how to implement the GRID METHOD for portrait painting. This is a great way to TRAIN YOUR EYE to see LIKE AN ARTIST. Seeing like an artist we have to ignore that this is a human head and look at the shapes, values and other elements to be able to render it with accuracy. If you would like to level up your drawing and painting skills this is a great way to go about it. If you already have a software like Affinity photo your welcome to use that but if your new to Jr Art Lab you can also use www.sketchbook.com for free on iPad, Mac or PC.. The skills we learn will apply to any software and even to traditional media.
LIVE Online Workshop ~ Digital Charcoal Animals (April 13-17)

In this class we will look at how we can make digital charcoal using Sketchbook, a free app made by Autodesk. www.sketchbook.com
We will have a look at adding a special brush pack that simulates the way charcoal work. We will have a look at some animals as references. This will be a fun and exploitative adventure into digital painting. We will also have little at home assignments you can do during your own time that we are sure you will enjoy and help expand your visual library.

In this workshop we will learn how to make our own handwritten letters and typographic elements in design. Working in www.sketchbook.com we will create some beautiful hand written lettering with our name or a meaningful phrase we might like to print out. Having lovely quotes around we spent time making is a great way to remind us of the behaviour modifications we want to make in our daily lives.
Time permitting we will then move to an online web based vector creating tool to convert out artwork in to scalable vector graphics (SVG) a really useful skill for any age.. www.vectr.com

Adding simple little animations to a pattern will show us the process on the first day and then we will make our own little narrative illustration of ourself with our favourite pet or creature. This workshop will be made using free software www.sketchbook.com so you don’t have to have any special equipment to join in.
