In this workshop, students will learn the essentials of creative writing and explore different genres including life stories, non-fiction, popular fiction and Screenwriting. We will look at some great works from famous writers, we will also study some well written movie scenes as references. Writing tricks and warmups will be introduced to help students generate ideas. Participants are expected to walk away from this workshop with at least one finished story.

Week 4 ~ Video Editing 101 ( July 20-24 )( 13-17 yrs )
Video Editing skills have never been so practical and popular. Students who enroll in this LIVE online workshop will be learning the Language of Editing, editing techniques, colour correction and more. Participants will be working on the Edit Workspace to create videos with their own styles.
In this workshop, we will use the Hollywood-grade video editor – DaVinci Resolve 16. It’s also free to download and cross-platform. Check out https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/ to learn more about the software.
We will be using free stock images and video footage, so don’t worry if you don’t have a camera or video recording device.

Students are expected to complete several photo editing projects for their digital portfolio by the end of the course.
In this workshop, we will use a Free and Open Source Image Editor – GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). It is a cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, OS X, Windows and more operating systems. Check out https://www.gimp.org/ to learn more about the software.

Week 5 ~ Pixel Arts ( 8-12 yrs )
In this week of Digital art workshops students will create a variety of pixel based graphics that were popular in the Retro gaming world. Think Mario 2 and Space Invaders.. Students may wish to have their artwork printed at the end of the week onto a custom shirt that they can then wear around town with pride. Oooh what about a Retro Zelda shirt with Link and Sword.. That sounds pretty cool. Maybe even your friends will want one.. Printing one plain color shirt will cost an extra $20.00

Week 8 ~ 3D Architecture ( 8-12 yrs )
This class will be a unique study adventure for students wishing to learn about building 3d architecture. From simple houses to multi-story buildings. Every green screen shot needs environment/3d Models to match/fill the scene in films and tv productions . If games are more you style then look at the complex 3D cities of some of your favourite games.
In this workshop we will be creating some basic scenes to learn about the modelling process. We will begin modelling a small house with rooms and internal structures and progress to a subway scene and a large city. We will then look at textures and lighting the scene before rendering it as a digital image worthy of your portfolio. If you want to make your own scenes for movies of games with VFX this is the place to begin. Students will also be introduced to stock 3D websites that will help fill out their scenes with Creative Commons content.
